History of fish farming in Iran

The first artificial reproduction of fish in Iran goes back to the year 1301, which began with the reproduction of sturgeon, but the rearing of hydrothermal fish in Iran goes back to the 40s. The need to remove forage in the Anzali Wetland, where higher plants grown in the marsh that increase post-mortem sedimentation and reduce the amount of water-soluble oxygen, brought the Amur fish from Russia and China into the ecosystem.
Any fish within a specified temperature range, based on its bio-potential, will be well nourished and reared. Other major fish (aquatic) characteristics are as follows :

  • Spindle-shaped body
  • Generally contains scales
  • Having a limb called swimming fins
  • Breathing by gills and by water-soluble oxygen
  • Having a swimming bag
  • Side sensory line in the flanks
  • Lack of external ear
  • Lack of internal nose
  • Low brain development
  • Reproduction through spawning and external fertilization in water
